110th Annual UGM One Meal/One Hope Program Feeds the Homeless
10th ANNUAL UGM ONE MEAL/ONE HOPE PROGRAM FEEDS THE HOMELESS
Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission has been assisting homeless men, women and children, and those in greatest need in the Puget Sound area for 80 years! It all began with a group of local churches who wanted to meet the overwhelming needs during the “Great Depression” in 1932. Since then, the Mission has expanded its programs to include a men’s shelter, a women’s and children’s shelter, drug and alcohol programs, and help for health, dental, and legal issues. They continue to distribute blankets, food, and spiritual help for those living on the streets of Seattle, several times a week.
Nine years ago, the Mission began a program with Issaquah Christian Church called “One Meal/One Hope”, which provided the funds to feed the homeless community on Thanksgiving Day and beyond. A group of generous and caring donors started with just
$100.00 in 2003, and over the past 9 years have collected in excess of $55,000.00 which has purchased over 28,000 meals for those in need.
Terry Pallas of UGM will be visiting ICC November 4, 2012 at 10:30 am. The public is welcome. Issaquah Christian Church’s new facility is located half of a mile south of the city at 10328 Issaquah-Hobart Rd SE.
