May 4 ArtWalk highlights include Issaquah high school student art featured in the historic Shell Station and across the street at 195 Front Street North. There will be live music by Kaleidoscope bands in front of the library, Issaquah Singers at the Issaquah Senior Center and Shaggy Sweet at the historic Shell Station.

Art Walkers can eat, drink and be merry at several downtown restaurants including Amante Pizza, Fin’s Bistro, Flying Pie, Jak’s, Montalcino, Rogue Brewery, Sunset Brewery, or Vino Bella Wine Bar.

ArtWalk venues include ArtByFire, Centennial Park, Confetti Cupcake, Christian Science Reading Room, Eastside Audiology, Experience Tea, First Stage, Fischer Meats, Hailstone Feed Store, Illuminate, Issaquah Senior Center, Issaquah Public Library,  Mills Music, Museo Art Academy, Opus Bank, Pedestrian Park, Salmon Hatchery, The Spanish Nest, and Village Theatre.

Come Purr-ty with these cool cats.  On Sunday, May 20th, the Cougar Mountain Zoo will close to the general public at 2:30pm and immediately re-open for a special ticket required event; the Cougar Cubs First Birthday party! The festivities will run from 2:30-5:00pm and will include birthday cake, face painting, raffles, a birthday hat making station and of course, presents and cake for the cougar cubs. The upper portion of the Zoo will be the only area open for this event.

The cubs, one male and two females, were born at a zoo in Wisconsin on May 20, 2011. The local community has become quite smitten with these three kittens. Tickets for this pawsitively awesome event are only $10 if purchased before May 20, and $12 on the day of the event, children under 2 are free.

Proceeds benefit the Cougar Mountain Zoo’s expansion projects and The Beat, the teen page of The Press.

The cubs will be given their presents and cake promptly at 3:00pm. “Cougar cubs love to destroy things, so we are creating special birthday boxes for them to do just that!” said Robyn Barfoot, General Curator. The cubs will also receive special cakes made of meat, as well as tasty treats hidden inside their presents.

Shell Station) at 232 Front Street to get assignments for the morning.

Students can earn community service hours. Bring a friend, bring some gloves. Make a difference.  DIA will provide tools.

Free pizza will be served at noon compliments of Flying Pie Pizza.

The City of Issaquah has set a
date for a Special Meeting to discuss and gather input from the community on the
proposed retail carryout bag next Monday, April 30 at 7pm City Hall South. In
addition, there is information on the proposed ordinance on the City’s website City of Issaquah .

We are looking for a few volunteers to help with set up, run the information booth, monitor the streets and help with clean up at the May 4 ArtWalk.

There are two available shifts, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. Come on down and help, meet some nice people and enjoy ArtWalk. Please join us.
